The World Bank board of directors has agreed to allocate $ 12 billion (about $ 10.2 billion) to developing countries in connection with the corona pandemic. The money will be made available so that these countries can buy and sell corona vaccines, tests and drugs.
The plan is part of a $ 160 billion package. This should help developing countries fight the corona pandemic by next June.
The World Bank reports that the funding program also includes technical assistance to recipient countries so that they can prepare large-scale vaccination campaigns. The program is also intended as a message to pharmaceutical companies so that they understand that there is a high demand for corona vaccines in developing countries and that there is enough money for them.
