
The UK government on Friday announced a series of measures to curb the power of digital giants like Facebook and Google over both the use of personal data and online advertising.
The new code of conduct aims to improve competition and protect consumers, the government said. He followed the July Competition Guard’s suggestions and was concerned about the dominance of American giants. The aim is for consumers to have choices and for small businesses not to be left out.
London recognizes the advantages of the large platforms, but notes a “concentration of power of a small number of digital companies”. This slows the growth of the sector, slows down innovation and can have a negative impact on society.
