TUI is again offering package tours from Germany to Turkey. The airline’s German division reported this Friday after Germany lifted travel restrictions on some key tourist regions in Turkey three days ago.
The first flights will start on Saturday from twelve German airports to Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum and Izmir. TUI has around 500 hotels in Turkey, one of the most popular travel destinations for German TUI guests. “We are in close contact with the authorities and important hotel partners regarding hygiene and safety measures. The hotels are well prepared and meet the same high safety and quality standards as our other holiday destinations in the EU, ”says Marek Andryszak, CEO of TUI Germany.
So far, Turkey was one of around 160 countries outside the European Union and the Schengen area for which the travel warning in Germany was valid until August 31. With the step of partially lifting the restriction, the federal government is making an exception for the first time. An orange travel advice notice continues to apply to Turkey from the Netherlands, so that only necessary trips are recommended.
The travel agency Corendon was previously criticized for offering holidays in Turkey while an orange travel advisory was in place for the country. Prime Minister Mark Rutte called this “unwise and irresponsible”. At the end of July, the organization announced that it would postpone the holidays in Turkey to at least August 12.
