Trump tried to convince his party member to undo his defeat against Joe Biden by flattery, pleading and finally by threats with criminal consequences. The Democrat beat Trump in swing state Georgia after two recounts, which Raffensperger described as “fair and accurate,” he told the president in her hour-long phone call.

Without providing evidence, Trump has been claiming for weeks that his defeat was due to widespread election fraud. “I couldn’t have lost Georgia,” Trump said several times on the phone. “We won by hundreds of thousands of votes.”
