Treacherous smoothness through snow, woman died in accident Enkhuizen | inland

The police did not reveal anything about the victim’s identity. It is not yet known whether the smoothness is the cause of the collision in Enkhuizen, but it will be slippery in several places on Saturday. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and asking witnesses to come forward. Dashcam pictures are also welcome. The road was closed in both directions.

Snow and sleet

On Saturday afternoon and evening, snow fell across the country, reports Weerplaza. The snowfall started in Zeeland. Drenthe and Groningen were the last to play. In most places, 2 to 3 centimeters of snow fell, it stayed almost everywhere.

Rijkswaterstaat is working “with all its might” to keep the motorways easily accessible. All available devices are provided. By the end of Saturday afternoon, more than 4.5 million kilos of salt had already been strewn.

The thaw gradually sets in from the west, but in the east and especially in the northeast it can be slippery until the early hours of Sunday morning. Especially on streets where there are no sprinkles.

The KNMI has been applying the yellow code across the country since 6:00 p.m. as the snowfall is slippery. The Yellow Code is expected to remain in effect until 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The winter weather also made for fun in the snow today:

Snowfall is becoming increasingly rare

Large snowfalls with 1 centimeter or more snow in at least half of the country are becoming increasingly rare. Since 1956 there has been daily monitoring to see whether there is a blanket of snow. In the middle of the last century, our country had 12 days of heavy snow each year, but now there are only five days left, according to Weeronline.
