Theaters advocate a national standard: leave a seat free

The Association of Theater and Concert Hall Directors (VSCD) calls for new measures in the theaters, for example a free space between the visitors instead of 1.5 meters away. The association would like to follow the example of Austria, in which measures have already been taken in this area.

VSCD supports the letter that the Cultural Council wrote to Minister Van Engelshoven. It contains advice on an “agile and resilient cultural and creative sector”. In particular, a national standard is required in which, for example, a chess set-up is used in theaters: chair by chair.

The use of masks and a reservation requirement are also part of the advice. “Announcing a national relaxation for the entire sector will increase the space capacity of all 134 VSCD stages from 20 percent to at least 50 percent,” said Gea Zantinge, VSCD CEO.
