Kim Putters, Director of the Office for Social Cultural Planning (SCP), will meet the 25 Mayors of the Security Council in Utrecht on Monday to discuss the social consequences of the corona crisis. The SCP tracks how satisfied the Dutch are with their lives. In September, the agency announced that the pandemic would have a greater impact on public welfare in the final months of the year.
Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus will also return to the Security Council. The reflections will talk about keeping the holiday shopping season going, what to do in the upcoming holidays and additional activities for young people. They also discuss what will happen if the corona numbers don’t drop dramatically. Grapperhaus and Chairman of the Board Hubert Bruls, Mayor of Nijmegen, explain after the meeting.
Before the corona meeting, the Council will hold a regular meeting in Utrecht on Monday afternoon. The security regions meet several times a year to discuss administrative issues relating to the services covered by the region. These are fire brigades, disaster relief and medical aid. In this corona year, significant demands were made on all services.
