The UK stock exchanges opened with solid gains on Tuesday after a Christmas break. The FTSE 100 index was quoted shortly after 11 a.m. Belgian time with an increase of around 2.5 percent. The stock markets reacted, among other things, to the Brexit trade agreement that the United Kingdom and the European Commission concluded a few days ago.
The FTSE 100 closed at 6,502 points before the Christmas break. More than 150 points were quickly added on Tuesday.
