“A large majority of European airports are required to wear a face mask. Schiphol wants to make it as clear as possible to travelers. That is why we are now calling on passengers and employees to wear a face mask in all areas of the airport that are accessible to passengers, “said a spokeswoman.
“With the request to wear a mouth mask everywhere now, we are also following the guidelines of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).” She emphasizes that the new Policy does not replace other rules. “That still applies: Do not come to the airport if you have complaints, keep a distance of one and a half meters and adhere to the hygiene regulations.”
The request to wear a mouth mask also applies to the Schiphol Plaza public area. But it’s not that travelers can be fined for not carrying one. According to Schiphol, this is an urgent request, not a legal obligation.
