Rutte: no foreign holidays until mid-March

Rutte made this statement during the announcement of the lockdown. All non-essential businesses and schools must close for a period of five weeks until midnight. According to the cabinet, the number of coronavirus infections is rising too quickly.

If you are allowed to travel again for unnecessary reasons by mid-March, the winter sports season is almost over. Last year some winter sports enthusiasts took the virus with them from northern Italy and Austria to the Netherlands.

The Netherlands Antilles are not considered a foreign country and are therefore excluded from the recommendation not to go on holiday abroad.

Christmas holidays
According to the travel agency TUI, Christmas holidays are still possible in Aruba, Bonaire, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. “These destinations are still marked in yellow in the foreign ministry’s travel warnings, reports TUI.
