The number of infections with the virus is increasing rapidly. The Cabinet is seriously concerned about this. “The numbers look really bad.” Rutte announced measures in a further eight regions. Among other things, the gastronomy has to close earlier there.
In the first virus wave in March, the cabinet did not want to close the schools either. Experts saw no reason for this, but the call for closure grew in society, whereupon the cabinet decided to comply.
Rutte also sees that there is now little call for the schools to be closed. “I now also notice that many parents and teachers are happy that the schools are open and that everyone is saying: let’s do this as long as possible.”
