On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, thirteen suspects are on trial for rioting during a demonstration by the Virus Truth group. The demonstration on June 21 was initially banned, but people still came to the Malieveld.
After a brief demonstration against the cabinet’s corona measures, clashes with the mobile unit occurred between Malieveld and Hague Central Station. According to the police, rioters used considerable force. For example, stones and smoke bombs were thrown at the police. One of the suspects would have kicked a policeman who was lying on the floor in his head. He has to answer the police judge on Thursday.
A total of 425 people were arrested during the riots and often sent away with fines. Twelve people were immediately arrested for overt violence. In July, the police showed photos of other suspects on the Police.nl website and on the television program Opsporing Verzocht, which led to further arrests.
