General practitioners, nurses, and other healthcare professionals need better protection from a new wave of corona infections. Six medical organizations argue for it. For example, they want the regional supply of protective equipment to be established so that healthcare workers in outbreak areas have quicker access to masks, gloves, aprons and screens.
The call comes from the National General Practitioners Association (LHV), the Dutch General Practitioners Association (NHG), the Primary Care Organization InEen, the Professional Association for Nurses and Nurses (V&VN) and the Professional Association for Nursing Organizations (Actiz) and home care (Thuiszorgnl).
The organizations also want healthcare workers to be given priority in corona testing: they must be tested on the day of registration and hear the results within 24 hours. They also want GGDs in trouble spots to always pass people’s test results on to their doctor, even if someone turns out not to be infected with the corona virus.
