Many consumers will continue to run online if the Corona measures are a thing of the past. That’s what market researcher Nielsen said wednesday.
“Consumers have embraced new behavior,” said Olivier Lamara, who is responsible for Nielsen’s retail division in Europe.
For the Netherlands, we have also investigated which product groups are purchased online after the coronavirus. The willingness to buy tools, drinks and packaged food online increased fastest. Fresh products can also count on more online interest.
According to Sonja van den Berg, who studies consumer behaviour at Nielsen, these are “significant changes in the way consumers want to shop for COVID-19.”
Sales of the supermarkets, which Nielsen keeps weekly, were again higher in the Netherlands last week than in the same week last year. In Week 19, sales rose 12.6 percent.
