Ministers urge schools to reflect on Paty's murder domestically

Their French counterpart asked Slob and Van Engelshoven to think about Paty’s murder as well. He was beheaded on October 16 by an 18-year-old Chechen Muslim extremist. Paty had used Prophet Muhammad’s cartoons in a lesson on free speech in his class. The perpetrator was shot after his terrorist attack.

“We ask everyone in the education sector to think about the importance of freedom of expression on Monday,” the ministers write to AOb, CNV, VSNU, PO Council and VO Council, among others. The flag can be half-mast, teachers can talk to each other and / or students, or there can be a minute’s silence, suggest the ministers.
