The 25 mayors, who together make up the Security Council, will be informed on Monday about the new corona policy, which Prime Minister Mark Rutte and corona star Hugo de Jonge will announce on Tuesday evening. On November 18, the deadline for the particularly strict measures imposed two weeks ago expires.
Talks are being held with the chairmen of the security regions about easing the situation or possibly intensifying measures. For example, museums, libraries and zoos are allowed to reopen. The cabinet is likely to decide on Tuesday the maximum number of people allowed on the street together. Justice Minister Ferd Grapperhaus is expected to join Utrecht.
The mayors are also discussing the current status of corona infections. Last Monday the mayor thought they could say “something useful” about Christmas this week. “It won’t be Christmas like we knew it was last year. In any case, it looks different, ”said Hubert Bruls, Chairman of the Security Council and Mayor of Nijmegen. After the consultation meeting, Bruls and possibly Grapperhaus explain what was discussed.
