Tuesday is the last day people can put off fireworks in The Hague. This concludes the collection campaign for the four large municipalities. Fireworks that were illegal before this year’s fireworks ban could also be handed in.
In Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amsterdam and The Hague, up to 25 kilos of fireworks per person could be returned without a fine or criminal record. A total of 598 kilos of fireworks were collected from the first three communities during the campaign. This year it is illegal to sell, own, and set off fireworks. The municipalities hope to limit the number of injuries at the turn of the year. This should prevent additional pressure on health care during the corona period.
Several smaller communities also organized a fireworks collection campaign. In Alkmaar, for example, more than 250 kilos were collected in four days.
