The Forum for Democracy has decided to postpone a manifestation in Volendam. The Edam-Volendam community did not like the event as security could not be guaranteed due to the large number of visitors, the party reported in a statement.
According to the FVD, the decision was made “in consultation”. The community “has stated that it regards the constitutional right to organize a political event as a great democratic good,” the party said.
The FVD, which had been thinned out considerably by internal disputes, planned to open the campaign for the parliamentary elections on March 17th in Volendam. Party leader Thierry Baudet also wanted to demonstrate against what he considers “absurd” corona measures.
