Of all companies organizing events and trade fairs in Belgium, 34 percent are likely to be bankrupt by the end of this year. This is the result of an investigation by the Graydon trade information office, which the newspaper L’Echo reported on Saturday.
The recent measures by the National Security Council have serious consequences for the sector that has already been badly affected by the corona pandemic.
“With 100 people admitted indoors and 200 outdoors, no real event is possible,” says Vinciane Morel of the Belgian Allianz event associations. “As long as there is no vaccine, we will be forced to stop our activities with every new epidemic wave.” According to the Belgian event associations, the sector will miss around 85 percent of its sales this year.
