French traffic police are preparing for the first black Saturday of this summer, with possibly more than 900 kilometres of traffic jams. Black Saturday is expected to begin in the early morning with traffic jams on the A6/A7, the Route du Soleil. A short time later, according to ANWB, traffic is also jammed on the A10 between Orléans and Tours and at Poitiers in the direction of Bordeaux. Traffic will also pass through central France via the A20 at Limoges and the A75 at Clermont-Ferrand. Traffic to Italy was due to be delayed on the N205 in front of the Mont Blanc tunnel on Saturday morning.
In the south of Germany, the state of Baden-Württemberg is on holiday and a second wave of holidaymakers starts from Bavaria. It will probably be full again towards Austria and Slovenia, but there is also a lot of recurring traffic heading north. The biggest bottlenecks in Austria are the A10 Salzburg-Villach and the Karawanken Tunnel on the border with Slovenia.
According to ANWB, holidaymakers who want to avoid the biggest crowd will not be allowed to leave the Netherlands until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. It’s even better to be on the road on Sunday.
