Serious inquiry: The Lifeline brought in more than 1.6 million euros this year. The total amount of 1,601,923 euros for the annual donation campaign by NPO 3FM was announced on Thursday evening at Twenthe Airport, where the DJs had been blocked since Friday. It is almost 200,000 euros more than last year.
This year the action, which took place in the glass house until three years ago, looked very different due to the corona pandemic. The DJs locked themselves in the airport hangar and had to keep the radio production and a treadmill running 24 hours a day. Together with Sander Hoogendoorn, Sophie Hijlkema, Frank van der Lende, Eva Koreman, Rob Janssen and Wijnand Speelman, the audience was able to walk safely. People could also collect or donate money through self-designed campaigns to get a picture.
The money is for Red Chastity. The organization plans to use the proceeds to ease pressure on healthcare workers at home and abroad and to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
Last year, when the radio DJs toured the country in pairs, the fundraiser raised 1,418,513 euros. Even then, the proceeds went to the Red Cross to help victims of human trafficking.
