21 injured in fire on USS Bonhomme Richard | Abroad

This is reported by the local fire brigade. No one is in danger of death.

The ship, the USS Bonhomme Richard, was docked at the port of San Diego for regular maintenance. The fire may have been caused. Authorities have yet to confirm this.

The Bonhomme Richard is a light aircraft carrier used by the U.S. Marine Corps, especially for helicopters and support for sea landings. The ship is similar to the Zr.Ms. Rotterdam and the Zr.Ms. Johan de Witt in the Netherlands.

A large plume of smoke was visible on Sunday morning (local time). At least one explosion was also heard, the fire department and local media report. Since then, everyone has been taken off the ship.
